I'm back after a 10 day mindfulness teacher training retreat in Spain - and a couple of days in Ibiza too.

I learned so much on my course and I'm really looking forward to implementing some key ideas in my yoga classes, as well as starting a local mindfulness group in Tunbridge Wells in the autumn, There will also be a Mindful Yoga workshop and some online mindfulness courses in the next couple of months too.So in this month's newsletter!

Weekly Mindfulness Group

I am excited to host a weekly mindfulness group, starting early October in central Tunbridge Wells. Each week we will cover the core mindfulness meditation practices and other techniques, as well as have a guided inquiry into our experiences. I will also provide some overview of the science behind what we're doing. There will also be herbal teas and biscuitsWhy practice mindfulness?We practice mindfulness to live more in the present moment, to enjoy life more, and to better equipped at dealing with the stuff that life throws at you. Through mindfulness practice, we start to notice that we have a choice in how to respond to life events, rather than behaving in the same old automatic ways - some of which may no longer help us. In this way, mindfulness practice can help with stress and pain management; in fact the first mindfulness group designed by founder Jon Kabat-Zinn in the USA was for hospital patients experiencing chronic pain. Kindness and compassion are a cornerstone of mindfulnes, and we practice being kind towards ourselves.There is a lot more information out there about the benefits of mindfulness, such as these links here and here. The UK government also released a Mindfulness Initiative, looking at how better to address mental health concerns especially in schools and workplaces.If you are interested in joining the group, please contact me to registerCost: £128 for the 8 week course.
