February Newsletter

Hi everyone!Slowly we are moving into spring, with snowdrops starting to show, the birds are finding their voices and it's staying light at 5pm . As we start to awaken from our winter darkness, we start to become more energised, wanting to be outside more, move more and our appetites change. Just paying attention to how we change physically and emotionally with the seasons is a very grounding mindfulness practice. All my new classes are up and running and waiting for you to turn up on the mat! A full list with booking details can be found  at the bottom of this email. This includes new classes on Mondays and Wednesdays. I also occasionally cover Saturday morning Vibrant Vinyasa at Flow so stay tuned for these. (0930 & 1100 on SATURDAY 18th FEB! Book here!)I am also taking registrations for the next 8 Week Mindfulness Course, which will start in May. Places are limited to 12 people. Please contact me for more details. Many people ask about where I trained as a yoga and meditation teacher. Before completing my training, I studied yoga and meditation under various teachers in London, the most influential being Angus Ford Robertson at Battersea Yoga. I chose to train with Bridget Woods Kramer as Angus doesn't offer a teacher training course, and I liked Bridget's style. Bridget is in the Anusara school of yoga, which has a foundation in the alignment of Iyengar Yoga, but also incorporates the philosophy and spiritual nature of yoga. If you ever attend one of Angus or Bridget's classes, my influences will become very clear!Last year I completed a teacher training course on Mindfulness, and will be deepening my meditation training with Alexander Filmer Lorch in his course at Flow this year. I am also attending a breathworks training with Laurent Roure and a creativity workshop with Bridget. I completed a course on integrating pregnant women into yoga classes with Bridget Godwin from Unity Yoga and an excellent Applied Anatomy course at Flow.Learning, practising and teaching yoga is a never ending path of study and reflection, and I learn so much every time I get on the mat. I try to do one class a week as a student, usually with Lolly Patenall at Flow; as she is now about to have her baby, I am practicing with Greta Sani also at Flow. I sometimes go to hot yoga at Present Health, where Jemma and Helen are lovely teachers.Wishing you all a wonderful month and hope to see you on the mat!Best wishesLucy
NEW Classes @ Flow Tunbridge WellsMindful Yoga - Every Wednesday 0930 -1100At the heart of yoga, is the practice of mindfulness. Sometimes we can lose sight of this practice, so in these classes our intention is to improve our awareness and develop inner calm abiding. We’re also super lucky to be able to practice in the gorgeous Flow Tunbridge Wells studio, a purpose built space for yoga and meditation! This class is an open level level hatha yoga suitable for all including beginners. We’ll be exploring different concepts in yoga and mindfulness, and will close each session with a guided mindfulness meditation to really set you up for the rest of the day. No prior experience of yoga, meditation or mindfulness is required.Mindfulness and Stress Free Living - Every Monday 1230-1400I am so excited to be leading these sessions! I started my meditation and mindfulness practice seven years ago at such a group. From this weekly practice, I have experienced such an incredible personal journey: increased awareness, developing consciousness, more compassion and connection, discovering who I really am (plus, of course, a huge career and life change!). I can’t promise the same to all who attend, but hopefully you will leave with greater insights to life and improved wellbeing. These drop in mindfulness sessions are designed to help students go deeper into their mindfulness meditation practice, as a natural progression from the 8 Week Course. Please note that ANYONE can drop-in to these classes at any time. These classes are for everyone – from beginners to experienced practitioners. They are designed for anyone who wishes to let go of habitual stress through a combination of mindfulness, self-inquiry and group discussion.A typical class might look like this:
  • Arrive: aim to arrive 5-10 minutes before the class begins
  • Check-in: Once settled, we begin (on a cushion or chair) the session with a short meditation and group ‘check-in’
  • Guided Meditation: The core of the class is a guided meditation lasting around 20-30 minutes (the guided Meditation/technique is different each week)
  • Discussion: we will be using ‘The Power of Now’ by Eckhart Tolle as our reading for the first couple of months. It is not necessary to buy and read the book, although if you plan to attend regularly, then it is recommended.

All spots must be booked through the Flow Tunbridge Wells website. Any questions, please contact me on 07796 697 574 /
